Mans Best Friend

This is one of my dogs, Charlie. As you can see, he's a little Jack Russell! I have another dog, who's a golden Lab, and he's called Simba. Chalrie and Simba are like brothers. Despite the difference in size, they cuddle up together at night, Charlie like to lick Simba clean, he often sleeps on Simba's back! I love my dogs, and if you look at them, it's clear that not only can friendship form between humans, but friendship can bond animals also.

Sincere moments in life need images to accompany the memories. Beautiful seconds, and amazing minutes can all be remembered in one's mind, but cannot be shared through one's head. And so, photographs help share our important seconds with those close to us, it helps us portray a lifetime of moments, a mindful of memories, and an eyeful of beauty in a second.

Underwater Photography

I love the effects of underwater photography. I think it can be so elegant and flowing, the beauty and weightlessness of it is almost calming, and it seems to enhance colours. Below are some images i found online. These four i think explore colours nicely, and are fantastic images sculpted underwater. The opportunity for me to shoot underwater would be amazing, and it's something i would love to do one day. Obviously that involves special resources and requirements which i currently don't have and can't access. It's just a contrast to your average photo's, the way the dresses flow, and hair floats, it's peaceful and interesting.

Dress Designs

Here are a couple more designs i have scanned in... I realise they are missing faces and hair, but i was concentrating so much on the dresses that i forgot, and then i really couldn't be bothered. So try and imagine a head please :) The first one i love because of the variation between detail and simplicity. The second one leaves the detail to the structure of the dress, with plain fabric. What do you think?

Fashion Shoot Fri 2nd Sept 2011

Okay, so i managed to grab my friend Finlay to do some modelling for me yesterday. It was such a busy day, and i was so tired afterwards. However i have managed to edit some of the photo's ready for uploading. I still have some more to do, but i thought i would share these ones first. We had a huge dilemma when the photo's didn't upload to my laptop properly, and i had already deleted them off my camera, which meant we had to run round like lunatics trying to take some more. But we did it, and we got some gooden's i think!

Vintage/Victorian Design

 I think this dress is quite vintage fashion. It reminds me of victorian dresses because it's quite extravagant. The simple colour leaves all the attention to the shape of the dress which was what i intended. I thought that rather than stealing the show with some fussy print or detail, maybe i should let the shape and style take all the attention. That's why i added the extra layer of material at the bottom, to create a more shapely appearance, the change in fabric contrasts well also. The buttons help create the vintage style and the bow just adds a touch of femininity to the dress. I added the gloves to yet again enhance the vintage feel of the dress.

Open chest & split leg Design

I really like this design actually. I intended for the sleeves to be a different fabric than the rest of the dress, as i wanted them to be opaque. The whole gathered layers i think adds subtle extra detail to the dress, it makes it more interesting and where i positioned this is so that it will draw the eye to the chest (which is a very open part of the dress) and the thigh (again, open). I think this work really well, drawing attention to the biggest features of the dress without being too fussy. I wanted a lemon/lime colour because i thought it was fresh, and a colour that is underused. Also with block colouring coming back into fashion i figured that some bright heels would look great. I chose a bright aubergine/violet pair, because i though in patent they would look stunning.

Yesterday i tried what i have heard of many people doing... I did a photo shoot where i worked on the camera, and in front of the camera. Yes, it proved a little tricky, the setting on my camera only seems to allow me about 10 seconds on timer before it takes the picture. So after sorting through my shots, and deleting those where i was running frantically to pose, i managed to find and edit some photo's i thought were worth keeping. And here they are.

I was going for the whole, garden party mixed with vintage look, including the fans and the parasol.
